product is beautiful, boyfriend very happy. Sharp enough to shave with, apparently, but I wouldn't recommend it!
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery was prompt, and on time, as I had hoped. What I wasn't expecting was a 4"x4"x36" shipping box for a knife set roughly the size of a tie box. That is wasteful of space and materials.
More concerning, however, is that the knives were packed exactly as displayed in the picture- that is, with the box *open*. The knife and fork were not tied down, and came out of the foam in the course of shipping- meaning a $300 carving knife and fork were rattling about loosely in the box. This sloppy packing could have damaged the product, or worse- injured the shipping personnel if the incredibly sharp knife had cut through the cardboard. There was damage from the fork and knife on the shun display box from them being packed loose. Absolutely unacceptable. Will buy more Shun knives, will not buy them from hayneedle.
